About NRTC

The National Research & Technology Consortium(NRTC) was established in 1995 at Parwanoo in Himanchal Pardesh as an autonomous non-profit R&D organisation by the State Council for Science, Technology & Environment, Govt. of Himanchal Pardesh. Registered under the Society Registration no. 16-237/95 dated 23-03-1995, NRTC is accorded recognition as a Scientfic & Industrial Research Organisation(SIRO) by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India in recognition of its activities in the field of industrial research, consultancy services to industries and design & development of indienous technologies. It is located on Chandigarh - Shimla National highway (NH-22), 30K.M. from Chandigarh towards Shimla and is well connected by road and railways.

NRTC works in close collaboration with national research laboratories to provide the best the nation can offer to the industry in the relevant areas. While pursuing this path, NRTC is also developing its strength in setting up R&D facilities and services. These facilities and services are either in-house or with industry as part of consortium management. This approach provides technological solution, expertise and information without having to build up a vast infrastructure so that NRTC can be competitive as an organisation.
NRTC programmes are in the forms of industrial projects, technology development, R&D facility provision to industry, consultancy and training workshops & seminars to strengthen the skill base of people from industries.
NRTC is focusing its programme and developing its base in the areas of Advanced Materials, Materials Characterization & Development, Surface Engineering, Heat Treatment, Automation and Control, Instrumentation Development Computer Simulations Software, Metrology and Calibration, Testing and Certification, Electronics and Instrumentation. These are identified as some of the key areas where significant technological impact can be made. However, where specific expertise and knowledge base are required, links are established with National laboratories and Universities. Over the past few years NRTC has established itself through providing some indigenous technology to industries in the areas of import substitution. The service support to ‘Quality’ organisation is enhancing year by year.
